Is There A Non-Surgical Butt Lift?
A butt lift is a surgical procedure that transfers fat from one part of the body to the buttocks. The purpose of the procedure is to contour the buttocks so that it loses its sag and looks firm and shapely. Because it is a surgical procedure a butt lift requires the patient to be anesthetized during the procedure and there is a long recovery period.
For those who want o enjoy the look of well-contoured buttocks, but don’t want to have surgery a new non-surgical procedure is gaining popularity. Sculptra is a minimally invasive procedure that uses derma fillers to contour the buttocks instead of a fat transfer.
How does a Sculptra butt lift work?
Sculptra is made up of synthetic Poly-L-Lactic Acid which is a biocompatible substance. Lactic acid is also found naturally in the body and is not known to have side effects or cause allergies.
Sculptra is in the form of a powder that is mixed with sterile water to form a suspension. The suspension needs to be prepared one week prior to the procedure. Once the suspension is ready for use it can be injected into the required areas.
Before administering the injections the skin is numbed using a topical anesthetic. The procedure is virtually painless and the recovery time is very quick.
It is common to experience some bruising and swelling at the site of the injections but this will pass in a few weeks. Patients are advised to massage the area regularly after the injections have been administered.
The procedure takes about half an hour and will need to be repeated at least two more times with an interval of six weeks between each.
What happens next?
Once the Poly-L-Lactic Acid is under the skin it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the body. The newly formed collagen and elastin plump up the buttocks giving is a better shape and well-defined curves. The skin is also smoother and more supple. It takes about three to six months to see the full results of the procedure.
Who is a good candidate for a Sculptra butt lift?
You are a good candidate for a Sculptra butt lift if:
- You are between the age of 26 to 45 and your body can still actively produce collagen and elastin.
- You have very little excess fat to spare for a fat transfer.
- You don’t want to undergo a surgery.
- You are a healthy adult and close to your ideal body weight for your age and height.
