You noticed dark hollows under your eyes in a recent photo, and now that's all you can see. If a friend told you that tear trough filler in Bel Air, MD erased hers in one visit, you may be wondering whether under-eye filler can do the same for you.
Below, you'll learn what Dr. Brent Birely, a board-certified plastic surgeon, will tell you at our Bel Air office.
Will Tear Trough Filler in Bel Air, MD Fix the Hollowness Under My Eyes?
At the beginning of your consultation, you'll hold a hand mirror and show Dr. Birely the shadow that shows up in photos. Then, he'll check how deep the hollow runs and how thick the skin is under each eye.
Before you leave, ask about:
whether filler alone will fill the hollow, or puffiness above it needs a different approach
which hyaluronic acid filler he'll use, such as Restylane or Juvederm
how many syringes your hollows will take
how far ahead of an event to book, so the swelling has settled
You'll go over each of these with Dr. Birely, who completed his fellowship at Johns Hopkins, or one of the injectors on his team, such as Cheryl Sugar, PA-C, or Melissa Streett, CRNP.
Will Anyone Notice I've Had Under-Eye Filler?
On the day of your appointment, Dr. Birely will apply a topical numbing cream under each eye. Then come the injections. He'll place small amounts of filler along the tear trough with a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, and you may feel some slight pressure. It takes only a few minutes.
Post-procedure, the area may look a little puffy or bruised for a day or two. That part is normal. Best of all, you'll see the hollow filled before you leave the office. By the two-week mark, the swelling has settled and the shadow you kept covering is gone.
From there, friends may mention that you look well-rested or ask if you've switched concealers, but they will not be able to tell you've had anything done. Usually, patients enjoy their results for nine months to a year before scheduling a refresher visit.
